Updates on Cosmetic Regulations in Oceania (July)
1. Two New Chemicals Added to Australian Industrial Chemicals Inventory (AIIC)
In July 2025, two new chemicals were added to the Australian Industrial Chemicals Inventory (AIIC):

2. Australia Proposes Amendments to Poisons Standard
On July 8, 2025, the Australian Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA) initiated a public consultation on proposed amendments to three substances in the Poisons Standard. The consultation period ends on August 12, 2025. Feedback will be reviewed at the joint meeting of the Advisory Committee on Medicines Scheduling (ACMS) and the Advisory Committee on Chemicals Scheduling (ACCS) in September 2025.
The substances under review include homosalate, oxybenzone, and benzophenone.
3. Australia Issues New Chemical Assessment Statements
On July 16, 2025, the Australian Industrial Chemicals Introduction Scheme (AICIS) published assessment statements for two new chemicals:
D-Glucopyranose, oligomeric, citrates, C10-16-alkyl glycosides, sodium salts (for soil improvement)
Heptanoic acid, 1,1′,1′′-(1,2,3-propanetriyl) ester (for personal care products)
4. Australia Opens Annual Business Registration Renewal
On July 21, 2025, AICIS announced that the business services platform is open and reminded relevant companies to renew their business registration for the 2025–2026 registration year (September 1, 2025, to August 31, 2026). Registration fees and levies remain unchanged.
Business registration refers to the AICIS registration required for introducers of industrial chemicals in Australia (importers of industrial chemicals into Australia or local manufacturers of industrial chemicals).
