Brazil Enacts Law Banning Cosmetic Animal Testing
On July 31, 2025, Brazil enacted Law No. 15.183/2025, explicitly prohibiting animal testing for cosmetics and their ingredients. Key provisions include a ban on vertebrate animal testing, exemptions, and the regulatory responsibilities of the Brazilian Health Regulatory Agency (Anvisa). The law took effect immediately upon publication, and products tested on animals before the effective date may continue to be sold.
