United States: New Mexico PFAS Ban Enacted
On April 8, 2025, the Governor of New Mexico signed HB 212, the "Perfluoroalkyl and Polyfluoroalkyl Substances (PFAS) Protection Act." This law mandates a comprehensive ban on the intentional addition of PFAS in consumer products by 2031, with exemptions only for essential uses. The PFAS prohibition will be implemented in three phases. Phase 2, commencing in 2028, will apply to cosmetics, among other specified product categories.
